Birthright Citizenship is a huge magnet for people to come into this country illegally. It allows them to have children that are eligible for national, state and local welfare programs.
Another way they have found to abuse this amendment is through "Birth Tourism" where late term pregnant women come here to give birth to American citizens who may later use that citizenship to gain entry into our universities and other programs without their parents ever having to pay taxes.
Birthright Citizenship was written into the 14th amendment to ensure that children of slaves would be born American citizens. The time for this has past and it's being abused.
