It's not that these issues are not important but they are not important to the security of our nation as a whole. By legislating these issues at the state and local levels, we give the people more control over the polices implemented. People would be able to move to an area that resonates with their values instead of forcing the entire nation to live by the laws and values of a certain group of people.
