The social security/disability laws in America restricts couples receiving benefits from being able to enter the bond of marriage and be able to keep their coverage in full. The couple receives one monthly payment that is cut in half by the beneficiary who receives the most money. Let's say a man draws $800 a month and the woman draws $600. The woman's payment is completely stopped and the man's payment will go towards both of them and is cut down to $400 a month. How can anyone live on that? It is unfair that disabled couples are singled out like this. If there is even 1 person in the couple who draws social security or disability and they get married their entire check is cut out and it is left to the healthy spouse to provide for the family. This is discrimination!
