I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2006. I also have always wanted to join the Navy and hopefully become an information warfare officer (a non-combat position) or something of the sort after college. I come to find out that because of the disease I was likely born with, I am disqualified from joining any branch of the Armed Forces.
Over 29 million people in the United States are unable to serve their country because of a disease that can easily be controlled, especially if not in the middle of a foreign country fighting people.
