The people District of Columbia have never experienced true equality in the United States. We have been denied representation, while still being forced to pay the high taxes. Now, with the re-election of President Obama, we feel even less safe in our personal rights and liberties. To finally gain the freedom of statehood that we desire, we petition to peacefully secede from the United States.
