With automotive Event Data Recorders, otherwise known as black-boxes, now being installed and used in virtually every vehicle produced today, this brings to concern multiple privacy issues that need to be addressed. Most people are completely unaware that their vehicles contain black boxes which are recording everything from how quickly they accelerate, to how fast they have been driving, to even how many people are sitting in their vehicle at any given time. This data can be accessed by virtually anyone with a simple Diagnostic Link Connector, or in some cases even wirelessly. We the people are requesting that we be given the legal right and protection to completely disable any and all EDRs present in a privately owned vehicle as we so choose; especially in cases where EDRs are mandatory.
