Allow English adults who are sons of American servicemen from the 50's, to gain their birthright of US citizenship

Created by J.P. on October 27, 2011

It appears that UK citizens who have US fathers cannot easily gain their birthright citizenship when the father has died. Unless there is a document stating he supported you as a child (mine did but no docs) and /or he has left some official letter acknowledging you as offspring - it is impossible to get recognition after 57 years. I am acknowledged by my US family - see them often, am a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 312 but nothing seems to count. I'm frustrated and angry because i know this is NOT what my father wanted - he served in US Navy and Air Force - if he hadn't died suddenly would have signed off documents, without him i am stuck in a vicious circle. I hope my fellow Americans can support this petition to reach 25000. I live in UK and work as a Nurse.
