The use of fracking, or hydraulic fracturing in the exploration and extraction of oil and gas cannot currently be accurately quantified because of the energy industry's stranglehold on lobbying Congress (both houses), the White House (as evidenced by the POTUS' own outright, public support of it) and more insidious in nature is the Heartland Institute's full court press on all 50 states' individual state senate and house representatives'. Utilizing scare tactics , doubt and dubious economic arguments to attempt to not only discredit climate science but raise the spector of loss of jobs which is in direct contraversion of known job growth due to diversification of ranching and farming lands being used during droughts when their primary means shrivel.
