US citizens must wait several years, and sometimes decades, to be reunited with their sons, daughters, brothers and sisters who applied for family-sponsored visas. These family members must wait outside the US, due to the family visa quota system set forth in Section 201 and 203 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
While they wait, these family members are typically not eligible for any form of temporary visa. This means that families must live apart for years and sometimes decades! This doesn't seem in line with American values! Strong families united build strong communities!
Pass legislation to allow family members of US citizens who are waiting family-sponsored immigrant visas to apply for family-sponsored temporary visas. Let families be united!
