Federal civilian employees have been serving in combat zones for many years, yet Congress has been unwilling or incapable of passing legislation to allow federal civilians the same or similar tax free benefits that are currently provided to the military and government contractors. During the last Congressional session, a bill entitled the Federal Employee Combat Zone Tax Parity Act was introduced to the House Ways and Means Committee where it eventually died. I petition the President and Congressional leaders to revive this legislative proposal to ensure a level of equity in taxing all citizens of the US serving in combat zones around the world in a similar manner.
