Allow Federal employees to be deputized for the purpose of defense

Created by C.F. on July 12, 2013

We request that legislation be introduced to allow federal employees to take on a voluntary collateral duty as deputy federal law enforcement officers, enabling them to be better protected in the event of an attack. As with a Federal Flight Deck Officer, employees under this program would be considered Federal law enforcement officers only for the limited purposes of carrying firearms and using force, including lethal force, in defense. Employees would not be granted or authorized to exercise other law enforcement powers such as the power to make arrests, or seek or execute warrants for arrest, or seizure of evidence, or to otherwise act as Federal law enforcement.
