Allow federal Stafford student loan interest rates to remain at 3.4% and not increase to 6.8%.

Created by W.D. on June 06, 2012

The cost of higher education has drastically increased in the last three decades which undermines education’s function as a vehicle to achieve equality in our society. Returning the federal Stafford loan’s interest rate to 6.8% could add an additional $1,000 of debt per year, to many American families. This financial burden could present another hurdle in the effort, to achieving the American dream. In order for our country to thrive in the globalized world, as well as, keep the equality vehicle running strong, Congress should vote by July 1, 2012, for the federal Stafford loan’s interest rate to remain at the current rate of 3.4%.
