Today, many American citizens that have been arrested for crimes and convicted as felons are finding it harder and harder to make a better life for themselves due to limitations on what they can and can't do. One of these limitations is being able to rent apartments without having a background check done. Most apartments will not allow a felon to rent because of their record unless it has been five to seven years past. For many felons that are recently released trying to get back on the right track and even start a family can not do so with these limitations. Just because they have made mistakes does not mean they should be shunned from being able to live like citizens.
