Allow felons to vote.

Created by M.K. on November 15, 2012

We must remember that voting is a RIGHT, not a PRIVILEGE. While PRIVILEGES may be taken away, our RIGHTS are inalienable. One other good reason to allow a convicted felon to vote is their first hand knowledge of the failings of our rehabilitation programs. Prisons are said to have revolving doors. If we allowed those that have served time to vote, maybe we would see recidivism rates decline. Lawmakers and the people with a voice in legislation generally have not seen our prison systems from the other side of the bars. I believe that this change could really impact statistics regarding repeat offenders.
