allow FERS Special Retirement categories access to TSP accounts without early withdrawal penalty.

Created by H.B. on January 05, 2016

Some federal employees fall under special retirement criteria due to nature of the occupations; federal law enforcement, firefighters and air traffic controllers. These personnel have mandates retirement age of 57 and eligibility at 50 w/25 years of service. Yet these retirees are forced to wait up to 7.5 years to access their TSP accounts without penalty. State and local employees of same categories are allowed to access their retirement 401k without penalty upon reaching retirement age. Federal employees should be allowed to do so as well. Last year a bill was introduced in House of Representatives but never made it through process to presidential office. Please re-engage this initiative and allow federal special retirement retirees access to their TSP accounts without penalty.
