It has been reported that a deal was reached to allow students to borrow at a 3.85% rate, and 5.4% for graduate students. Undergraduate students borrowing subsidized loans since 2008 have been able to take advantage of lower rates to finance their education. However, students who were in school before that time, as well as graduate students, did not see any relief despite record low interest rates on loans across the US.
Encourage Congress to pass a bill allowing graduates who are in good standing with their loan servicers to refinance under lowered interest rates.
