8 yr old author, Natalie McGriff, wrote a comic book after previously suffering from low self-esteem because of her naturally kinky and coily hair.
The book, The Adventures of Moxie McGriff and winning $16K to publish it, caused her to trend internationally.
Natalie was able to travel the US on a mini-book tour and read to little girls her age. It was there, she and her mom began to encounter little girls that suffered from low self-esteem like she once did, because of so-called "nappy" hair.
According to an article on "The Root", the First Lady's hairstylist Johnny Wright stated she's natural and simply flat irons her hair.
We would like for the First Lady and her daughters to host an empowerment day for girls, while wearing their hair in its natural state to promote self love!
