Currently, globalization is helping and injuring developing countries. Thousands of people are suffering at the hands of corrupt business owners. In Haiti, men and women are struggling to keep jobs that are virtually unavailable. Haiti's citizens are forced to work 12 to 24 hour workdays if owners believe that is what is needed to meet their quota. Finally, if employees do not meet that quota, they may not even receive pay (which is less than two dollars a day). It is not enough for American consumers to stop purchasing items from these countries. Action is needed from the Obama Administration to start aiding these workers. It can begin by providing education to those in developing countries to help develop globally competitive economies without their citizens suffering in return.
