Allow gay males to donate blood to blood banks

Created by T.H. on September 22, 2011

Although all of the blood that passes through the donation system gets tested for the HIV virus, males who have had any sexual contact with other males even once since 1977 are not allowed to donate blood as it is deemed "risky behavior". This is completely unnecessary since all of the blood is tested for dangerous viruses.
Since this is an FDA regulation on blood banks, all donation centers in the United States have to follow it, whether they feel that it is an important regulation or not. Allow equal rights for all people, especially those trying to save lives by donating blood.
