Allow gay men to donate blood.

Created by D.P. on October 11, 2014

The FDA should dismiss its ban prohibiting gay men from donating blood. The policies are not based on medical science since all donations are throughly tested for infections. Blood is always is short supply, and it has been reported that the ban cost hospitals 219,000 pints of blood a year.
It is unfair to blanket all gay men with the stigma of a promiscuous lifestyle when many are in committed monogamous relationships. It has been said that a sexually promiscuous heterosexual man is at greater risk than a gay man in a monogamous relationship, yet the ladder is allowed to donate.
Many countries changed their laws years ago to lift the donation ban, I believe America is ready to put aside prejudices for the greater good. No one should be denied the opportunity to save a life.
