Why are GED holders required to achieve extra minimum requirements to join our Armed Forces? GED is supposed to be the equivalent to a high school diploma, but when GED holders decide to join the armed forces they are surprised with more requirements than a High school diploma holder would need. GED needs a 50-65 or above on the ASVAB test to qualify for any branch. While a high school diploma holder needs a 30 or above. GED holders also have to have 15 college credits to be considered the "equivalent" of a high school diploma holder. People willing to serve our country, to make the ultimate sacrifice for our country shouldn't be miss treated no matter their level of education.
