George Takei is a renowned actor, civil rights activist and internet personality. He has spoken on issues involving gay rights, bullying, civil liberties, and has likely inspired many of our current military's pilots.
In a recent blog post, he stated that he wouldn't be against a petition to allow him to pilot an F-14, even though he personally believes there are good reasons private citizens are not allowed to do so.
As the F-14 seats two, but only the pilot has flight controls, this petition suggests that perhaps he should be allowed up with a certified military pilot as a copilot, or perhaps be allowed to take the controls (if only for a moment) in some other type of similar jet where dual-controls are enabled, as a milestone in his amazing career.
