The mandatory shaving of facial hair male service members must perform every day is a violation of their individual rights and has the potential to create adverse health effects. Some service members are already issued medical chits not requiring them to shave but the determination on whether to shave or not should be left to the individual member as they know best what effects shaving might have on them.
As long as the facial hair is tastefully worn and does not give an unsightly appearance in uniform there is no reason why service members should not be able to wear a beard. It will increase moral tenfold amongst our troops. Finally, it is ,in fact, possible to create an effective seal while wearing a gas mask. Facial hair does not prevent this in any way.
