Currently, immigrants on H4 visas cannot work in any capacity in the United States. Frankly, this policy is ridiculous and hurts both the American economy and immigrants. H4 visa holders are not allowed to hold jobs, intern (even without payment or for credit), work from home, start their own businesses, or even volunteer if the position they are volunteering in would typically be paid. No one should have to fear that if they work, they'll be deported or denied a green card. The current regulations hurt immigrant families and make upwards mobility even more difficult for them. Also, the American economy would actually benefit if H4 visa holders were allowed to work.
