Currently, the FDA doesn't accept blood donations from men who have engaged in sexual activity with other men. All of the blood donated by heterosexuals is tested for HIV and AIDS. Blood drives are held everywhere. When it seems as if the world is willing to accept blood from almost anyone at any time, it simply doesn't make sense that the FDA turns down tons of blood every year from perfectly healthy gay men. If gay men could donate blood, many would go out and do so at the first possible moment. Not to mention how many more straight people would donate knowing that everyone can give and our country is accepting of everyone. President Obama's support has meant a lot to the community, but how can America say that we support gay rights when their blood is considered a lethal injection?
