Allow the immediate relatives of U.S. Citizens to obtain legal status without leaving the U.S.

Created by M.A. on February 09, 2014

Currently, the I-601A allows for immediate relatives of United States Citizens to obtain legal status by leaving the U.S., in exchange the relative may receive an immigrant visa. The problem presented here is that some people do not have any family back home or have all their family living within the United States. There are U.S. Citizens who rely on these people [immediate relatives] to aid in their daily routine. This requirement will hurt family unity, cause financial burden, force readjustment of families, etc.

We the People are requesting an Executive Order abolishing the stipulation that the relative must leave the United States instead allow the person to continue to reside here and obtain their legal status.
