Kinder Eggs are a chocolate treat containing a toy, sold worldwide since 1973. The only country banning the egg is the US, because of Section 402(d)(1) of the FDCA Act, which forbids the sale of "non-nutritive objects imbedded in confectionary products. It also deems the egg a risk due to the toy inside may contain small pieces a child could swallow.
Children can swallow many small items: buttons, pencil erasers, small batteries, etc. This egg is marked for childen over the age of 3 years, and parental supervision would help eliminate this issue.
Secondly, there are MAXI eggs, which contain large prizes, leaving only the generic issue of 'non-nutritive items imbedded in confecionary"
We ask for a lift of the ban on importing Kinder Eggs.
