allow the importation of M1 Garand rifles and M1 Carbines that were Korean War surplus and sell them via CMP.

Created by J.K. on March 21, 2012

Originally the White House had approved the purchase and sale but now, with claims that these weapons are somehow more dangerous that what is currently available the White House has reversed course.

I believe the White House should reconsider this position because
1) the purchase of these rifles would help our allies, South Korea;
2) Law abiding citizens, history buffs and collectors, would be able to purchase a relic from the forgotten war;
3) The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), which would benefit, encourages legal, safe and responsible gun ownership and usage;
4) There are far more potent firearms out there that are legal, and it is legal to own either of these weapons.

Please do not let lobbyists and fear mongers chip away at the 2nd Amendment rights.
