Allow inmates the right to vote

Created by B.S. on May 12, 2013

I would propose to allow inmates the right to vote. Elections directly affect these inmates, such as prison system funding, and legal statutes. I believe these inmates have a right to have a voice in a government that controls their everyday activities. Until the day that they die, I believe that they are a part of our society and the decisions that we make in our society can directly affect these inmates as well. Considering the fact that many inmates cases are eventually overturned, this further reinforces the philosophy that these inmates are still a part of our community; These inmates are just a part of our internal community, which is the prison system, where many times basic constitutional rights are stripped away. Let’s not continue to deprive these inmates of this basic right.
