Currently Type I diabetics and insulin dependent diabetics are restricted to third class medical certificates related to pilots. There has been significant increases in diabetic technology and this rule is outdated and needs to change. A pilot shortage is also beginning to occur and this would bring more jobs into the aviation industry.
