allow 'A La Carte' TV legislation to move forward and end ridiculous equipment 'rental fees'

I just want to freedom not to have to pay exorbitant fees for equipment and services that I do not use. Consumers should be able to choose which television networks they pay for and should be able to own their cable equipment instead of paying for cheap cable equipment over and over again during the life of a cable contract. Cable companies are making money hand over fist by forcing people to "rent" their equipment and not allowing alternatives. Everything in this country is structured to rip off the consumer in favor of lining the pockets of corporations. Maybe at least one change in the favor of the consumer can be introduced.
