Chief law enforcement officers have the power to prevent an otherwise law abiding citizen from purchasing an NFA firearm. They can do this simply by refusing to sign the necessary paperwork.
Law aniding citizens should rightfully be allowed to purchase these firearms when they pass a background check and pay the 200 dollar tax to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The chief law enforcement officer should not be allowed to deny this.
