There has been much emphasis on STEM degrees, but the reality is that the US also needs other types of highly skilled workers with advanced degrees. After completing a master's, and working in the US for 6 years, us H1B workers, have to go back to our countries for a year before we can apply again for a visa if our employer does not sponsor us for it. Why is this like that? Why go back for a year when we can continue to work and contribute to the economy? Why not make the transition automatic so we can buy a home and invest our money here. Why send our children who were born here away, interrupting their education... This is total non-sense.
It seems to me that if we would have come illegally we would have better chances of staying than doing everything lawfully.
