We the people demand that the government allow the legal registration of automatic firearms for any civilian except those with a criminal record. It is supported under the second amendment that we the people have the right to bear arms, which shall not be limited to single-fire or semi-automatic firearms. Such responsibility shall be given to the people of the United States, while each individual accepts responsibility for the safe handling of any firearm he/she possesses.
After the shooting incident in a Colorado movie theater, it has been proven that criminals will find ways to possess automatic firearms illegally, and it is to a disadvantage that law-abiding civilians do not have an equal opportunity to protect themselves.
