Cascadia, a unique bioregion consisting of parts of the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia, wishes to peacefully secede from the United States with no armed conflict (visit cascadianow.org to view a complete map). Although legislation from Canada would also be required to finish the project, that may be done on a separate basis later, once secession is complete. The purpose of this secession is to preserve the unique cultural and environmental values that the citizens of this region value, as well as economic independence.
