LFTR, or Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor, are a type of reactor that is powered by breaking atoms from thorium to create energy. Thorium is much more common than uranium 235, which occurs naturally, but is extremely dangerous and we are also running out of uranium 235. Thorium 232 on the hand is completely meltdown proof and in 6,000 tons of thorium there is enough energy to power the whole Earth's energy needs for a whole year. There is also enough thorium just on earth to power humanity for thousands of years. Yet we are doing nothing. We can stop an energy crisis and a climate catastrophe by using this single energy source. More good news, Thorium fission by products can't be weapons made, so therefore it is proliferation free.
