National parks are suffering from backlogged maintenance, which is hurting park attendance and costs a lot of money. Attacking the backlog costs money which is tough to find when the budget is in deficit. I propose a solution. Allow people the right to build private property on the national parks near areas in need of maintenance! It has been shown that with proper care, homes can be built that do minimal damage to the surrounding area. The money they pay could go towards backlogged maintenance, or if the homeowners had maintenance experience, they could help do the maintenance in exchange for a reduction in their mortgage. Let's save our parks!
