Allow Long Island to secede from the state of New York and become its OWN state.

For too long the four million people of Long Island have felt alienated from the rest of the state. We love our New York neighbors, but the increasing burden of BEING New Yorkers has taken its toll on us. We pay roughly $8.1 billion in taxes and only receive $5.2 billion back in aid from the state. Keep in mind that this petition is ONLY for the secession of Nassau and Suffolk counties from New York state, NOT Kings and Queens counties, which should remain with New York state.
