There is a need to allow for more local AM radio stations and in some markets FM stations that while being being commercial operations that are focused on local news and local commerce
Part 15.219 under CFR 147 is too low power to cover a small town. It has been shown that even with 100 milliwatts that you need an antenna much longer than 3 meters on AM to send your signal to your town. We need more power to broadcast through that 3meter antenna as mentioned in FCC 15.216 under CFR 147 if we are to be a viable community resource.
We need to reduce that $3000 FCC filing fee to something that is affordable to those who are on fixed incomes and want to get off of Wellfare or Social Security..
We need a easier way to make our dream of being a community resource easier.
