Allow LPC counselors to work in VA as Mental Health Professionals as mandated by Federal Law passed in 2006

President Obama, please direct the Sect. of Veterans Affairs to adhere to PUBLIC LAW 109–461—DEC. 22, 2006 120 STAT. 3409, allowing Licensed Professional Counselors to be hired as Mental Health Professionals in the VA health care systems. Former Sect. Eric K. Shinseki announced on April 19, 2012 that the department would add approximately 1,600 mental health clinicians – to include nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, no Licensed Professional Counselors.
Petition the Senate for immediate passing of Bill S.1155 — 113th Congress (2013-2014), allowing LPC counselors to intern at VA facilities. Introduced to the Senate on 06/12/2013.
