Healthcare and prescriptions for obese patients cost insurers an order of magnitude more than that of healthy individuals, and study after study has shown that obesity directly leads to expensive chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and more. Like smoking, obesity is completely reversible with lifestyle changes.
The First Lady has made it a priority to help end the obesity epidemic affecting our country. The market should follow suit and stop subsidizing irresponsible choices.
