Allow members of the United States military in garrison environments to have groomed beards.

Created by J.G. on September 25, 2013

Members of the United States militaries have not been able to have beards based on hygiene standards and the proper sealing of gas masks. While there are exceptions made for religious adherence all other service members cannot have beards or facial hair other than mustaches. Beards can project a very imposing, professional, and masculine demeanor if groomed properly. Service members are forced to adhere to a grooming standard that is only one idea of what professionalism looks like. This petition asks that the current administration supersede all current military regulations on grooming standards and allow service members to grow professional beards in garrison and deployed environments where they will not be a hazard to health and the mission.
