Several concerned Congressmen have contacted the DoD and Pentagon, specifically regarding the deficient implementation of the MOVE Act (Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act of 2009) well before the November elections.
Under the MOVE Act, DoD was required to ensure that troops and their families have unfettered access to voter assistance on military bases under a program modeled after the well-known as motor voter programs for civilian voters. The law required DoD to install voter assistance offices at all bases by 2010. According to the report by DoD's IG, half of US Military Bases lack voter assistance facilities required by the MOVE Act.
