Many pets of military members end up back in shelters or as strays because the member does not have the financial means to get the animal from their current station to the next. Most expenses are predictable however a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) can drop out of the sky causing the member to have very little time to react/save. Commercial travel overseas w/ a single pet can cost thousands of dollars but if the pet were entitled to be on an Air Mobility Command flight from base to base it could cut costs down to a few hundred dollars. The member would have better quality of life, the pet would not be a stray, and because the plane is contracted out regardless of the space filled the government would actually be able to profit off the member. Pets are dependent, make it official!
