DOD Directive 5210.56 signed in Feb. 1992 limits and controls the carrying of firearms by DOD military and civilian personnel. It states “Authorization to carry firearms shall be issued only to qualified personnel when there is a reasonable expectation that life or DOD assets will be jeopardized if firearms are not carried”. It is unacceptable to not allow all service members who defend and protect our nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic, the ability to defend themselves with a firearm on a U.S. military installation if they choose. Please speak up for our service members by signing this petition to let our government know that we want our U.S. military personnel and their families to be able to carry a concealed weapon to protect themselves while on a military installation.
