Under Tricare, military personnel have to pay for the costs of fertility treatments, like In-Vitro Fertilization which allows couples which have difficulties conceiving to have a family. Tricare currently covers almost anything, from plastic surgery (granted not all the cost is covered by Tricare), to vision correction. There exists one major exclusion: fertility treatment. Currently all costs for IVF (which can range up to $15,000 for one cycle) must be paid by our servicemembers seeking treatment. This is deemed an "unnecessary" treatment by Tricare, yet the inability to have a family can have a substantially negative impact on a servicemember's life. Please propose an amended coverage plan for Tricare which allows for the coverage of IVF and fertility treatments. Thank you,
