As an active duty serviceman who is soon transitioning to the reserves, I have heard a lot of outcry both for and against putting armed service members outside schools. say allow the reserve corps to stand guard outside schools, on a STRICTLY VOLUNTARY basis, to fulfill reserve drilling obligations. Reservists receive a paycheck, regardless of the work done during drills, and this would allow us to guard schools without raising taxes or cutting police forces.
These members must be screened like any other high visibility position; military bearing, character, etc. and be selected. I post this petition willing to obligate myself to this as a reasonable countermeasure, and also to spur discussion of an idea I have not heard mentioned
