US military working dogs, which have helped save the lives of thousands of US service members, are not allowed to be buried in National Cemeteries due to the National Cemetery Act of 1973. These animals are not pets. They hold rank within the services and have fought along our services members for decades. It is only reasonable that we show some respect for these animals and give them a place of honor upon which to rest and so future generations may pay homage.
