Currently, many states needlessly restricts Nurse Practitioners practice, which then restricts patients access to quality primary care providers. Furthermore, Medicare only pays NP's at 80%, rather than 100% for physicians, for doing the same job in the primary care setting.
Multiple peer reviewed studies demonstrate the safety and quality of care that Nurse Practitioners provide, with clear evidence that their outcomes are equal, and in some cases, such as patient satisfaction, better than the outcomes of physicians patients.
These restrictions negatively impact Nurse Practitioners practice and the availability and quality of care that patients in the U.S. receive.
