allow only fair trade chocolate to be sold in the United States of America

Created by I.F. on April 23, 2014

There's a horrible truth about chocolate, there are over 280,000 children as young as 6 yrs old, working on cacao farms in West Africa creating chocolate for the world. Not only are the children slaves, but they work 10-14 hrs a day, sleep on mats as thin as paper, are fed once a day if even that, and are beaten constantly. On the Ivory Coast of Africa there is little government oversight, making it easy for large companies to break labor laws. If there is no child labor then this allows children to get an education and escape the grasp of poverty. When you sign this petition you are pledging to stop buying non fair trade chocolate, the chocolate that rips away childhoods, and replaces it with beatings. If the US outlaws non fair trade chocolate then companies will be forced to change.
